合理前提下的入乡随俗

There is a saying in China ″Wherever you go follow the local customs″. There is a similar saying in English ″When in Rome do as Romans do″. The persons who said those words were right because doing things in the way of the particular culture makes one a whole lot more sociable. It can also reflect respect. However I think the persons who first uttered these wise sayings omitted an important condition that is within reason. With this addition the wise edicts become more practical.

中国有句俗话叫“入乡随俗”,英语中也有句类似谚语:“到了罗马就要像罗马人一样行事。”创造这些谚语的人无疑是英明正确的,因为只有入乡随俗,才能很快与当地社会融为一体,同时也是对当地习俗的一种尊重。然而,我认为创造这些谚语的人忽略了一个很重要的前提,那就是“在合情合理的条件下”。加上这个前提后,这些谚语才更为实际可行。
